Zzzzz....

This is definitely the most boring trade deadline day in recent memory. After three years of 25 trades, so far we have eight...and only one or two of the "relevant" variety...

We are in danger of having more hours of live tv coverage than total trades.

Even though the deadline is technically 3pm Eastern, a lot of transactions don't filter in till long after that. That's because while the trade papers must be filed by 3pm, every deal must also have a trade call with both GM's and the NHL head offices, where there can often be long backups on the line. I believe the last trade was reported last year around 5pm.

Please NHL GM's, get on the damn phone!!
