Two drunken sports fans walk into a poll....

So every year ESPN.com runs this fan poll. In total they ask 50 questions ranging from your age, gender and what time zone you're in, to whether you've ever passed up sex to watch sports...you can bet this guy (<---) has.

What I found most interesting were the results that they give you once you complete the exam...er...poll.
First of all, as of Thursday night at 11pm when I filled it out, over 108,000 people had completed the survey. Over 97% were male and over 78% were between the ages of 18-36. No real surprises there, but at least we know the demographic that we're working with.

I encourage all of you to take the poll yourself, but here are a few samples of the more interesting results:

33.2% of people responded that the NFL was their favourite sport with MLB and college football right behind at 21% and 19.6% respectively. The NHL finished sixth with just over 5%, sandwiched in between the NBA and soccer and proving once and for all that despite what people say about hockey, it's still more popular than women's college basketball. Phew...

45.7% responded they owned between two and five sports jerseys. I wonder how many have been fired for wearing them to work.

45.6% said they spend between one and five hours a week on their fantasy teams. 5.2% spend over 10 hours a week on them!! Coincidentally, the same percentage of people responded they have never been able to keep a girlfriend for more than a few days...weird.

Ticket price was third on a list of biggest ripoffs in sports with 19% support. Second on the list was using tax money to build stadiums, at 19.7%. First though, was the infamous eight-dollar beer with a whopping 35% of the vote. This confirms my long-held belief that people will fork over endless amounts of money for pretty much anything without nary a blink, but jack up the prize of their booze and watch the sphinchters tighten.

More people would prefer to be given free season-tickets to see their favourite team play than be given a promotion at work. Which is convenient because losing your job would give you ample time to watch all the live sports you want!

More people would rather be given $5,000 than see their fav team win it all. However, 73% of people responded they would rather see their favourite team win a championship than get it on with Bradd Pitt or Angelina Jolie...Does this mean they value that night of passion at less than five grand? I don't know what planet these guys are on...Have you seen Troy...?Helloooo!?!
