9:56am...
We have our first trade...
Moments after Ottawa announces the extension of Filip Kuba to a 3-year deal deal worth $3.7 million annually, the Sens have reportedly acquired goaltender Pascale Leclaire and a second round pick for forward Antoine Vermette.
Some in the office think this is a good deal for both teams, but I believe this to be an absolute steal for the Sens. Leclaire was 24-17 last year with 9 shutouts before being injured and losing his starting job to Steve Mason.
This could finally be the young-stud goaltender the Sens have been waiting for ever since the Patrick Lalime experiment failed. That is, if Leclaire can stay healthy, which has been an issue for him all year.
That and a second rounder for an underacheiving forward who was clearly not fitting with Ottawa is a great move for the Sens.
